I have a fairly decent amount of lipsticks in my collection, both high-end and high-street. In terms of a lot of high-end lipsticks (like MAC, BareMinerals and Nars), I feel that you really get what you pay for, however there are some AMAZING high-street brands that you can buy for a fraction of the price that are just as good, and sometimes even better.
First is my MAC Lipstick in 'Twig'. I got this Lipstick back at Christmas when I went to MAC originally looking for the Kylie Jenner shade, 'Velvet Teddy.' They had sold out and wouldn't be back in stock for a while, so the MAC artist pointed me towards this one instead. At first I thought it would be too brown for my complexion, but when blended out
with a lip brush, it gives a really soft look- with subtle
redish
-purple undertones. You can also apply from the bullet to give a more bold lip colour, but I prefer the softer look. :)
Next is the Topshop Lipstick in 'Beguiled' which is a stunning dark berry colour, which again can be applied straight from the bullet to give a deep, berry colour on the lips. However I usually apply it with a lip brush. One thing I will say though, is that you will need a lip liner for this lipstick because it is such a bold colour. I use MAC's lip liner in 'Currant' - it's not the best match for the lipstick but if you use a light hand, you can definitely make it work.
Topshop Lipsticks are probably my favourite high-street brand of lipstick. At £8, they are great quality for money - super pigmented, long-lasting and quite moisturising too.
The BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipsticks are also amazing. They do some gorgeous colours and are super long-lasting. This one is called 'Live Large' which is a lovely plum shade. The packaging of these lipsticks is super sleek and feels really high-end, and the same goes for the quality of the actual lipstick.
I often wear this lipstick to work as I know I won't have to top it up throughout shifts- it genuinely does last a long time and keeps your lips feeling moisturised throughout the day.
They retail at £16 which may seem overpriced, but they are genuinely worth the extra money!
I definitely need to pick up a few more Marvelous Moxies!
I would consider these last two lipsticks a dupe for one another. They are VERY similar - both the colour and quality. The first one is the Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick in '535 Park Avenue Peach' which I think may be discountinued or is only available in the US. I actually bought mine from Amazon about a year ago so you might have some luck on Amazon if you can't find it in the shops.
This is an amazing dupe for the MAC Lustre Lipstick
in 'See Sheer'. I actually found these lipsticks through a guru on Youtube and couldn't help but pick them up to see how the lower-end option compared to MAC. I wasn't disappointed. Both lipsticks are a very similar peachy coral shade that would go well with most skin tones.
The Maybelline lipstick is incredible, I can find no faults however the MAC 'See Sheer' is slightly more moisturising. If you were to ask me which one to go for, I'd say the Maybelline 'Park Avenue Peach' if you can find it
- it's half the price and pretty much exactly the same as the MAC.
