August Favourites

Three must-haves that I've been obsessing over throughout the month of August.. MAC 'Ruby Woo', MAC MSF Natural 'Medium', and Make Up For Ever Full Cover Camouflage Concealer '5'. Apologies if this results in a spendy shopping spree on your part..

I'll begin with MAC 'Ruby Woo' - a lipstick I contemplated buying for the longest time. I just couldn't decide between that or 'Russian Red'. I'm not the best when it comes to overcrowded MAC counters (or overcrowded places in general), and when a new local counter opened, it was exactly that.. so needless to say, I picked the first pretty shade I saw, headed to the checkout and got out of there.

I own quite a hefty amount of MAC lipsticks, but I feel that apart from 'Velvet Teddy', 'Ruby Woo' is the only matte in my collection, and I'll definitely be purchasing many more after falling in love with the finish it gives, and also the everlasting staying power - especially when used with a lip pencil underneath. It's a very blue-toned red, which works well for us tea-drinkers as we'd do anything to make our teeth look whiter and brighter.. which is what blue-toned lipsticks tend to do. I pair 'Ruby Woo' with MAC 'Cherry' Lip pencil and it will still be on my lips next week. God bless red lipstick.

Make Up For Ever Full Cover Camouflage Concealer, Shade '5' - this stuff deserves a trophy. I actually picked this up from Sephora when I was in the South of France as I don't think we can get MUFE in the UK (correct me if I'm wrong). I was completely dumbfounded when I saw the selection of shades of this concealer, so I looked up Lily Pebbles' video in which she included this concealer, and trusted that I'd be a similar shade to her.. and I was. (Shade no. 5 if you're wondering). I'd literally take her advice on anything beauty-related.

I heard a lot of beauty gurus mention that this concealer is too heavy for under the eyes, therefore it is best for covering up blemishes.. and even tattoos, would you believe. I've actually found this concealer to work very well under my eyes as I use just a tiny bit of it mixed with my Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer in Shade 'Light/Medium' - I find these two mixed together give the perfect consistency and coverage for hiding those dark circles, although if you have very dry skin, this may be too thick and cakey. Also, I shall emphasize that you literally need the smallest amount of the MUFE concealer so even though it may have a high price-tag, it will last you months and months. Well worth it if you ask me.

My last favourite is MAC Mineralize SkinFinish Natural in Shade 'Medium'. I've actually been an avid user of the Bare Minerals Mineral Veil 'Translucent' for many years, and if I'm honest, the only reason I wanted to find a different setting powder was due to the fact I cannot cope with the matte packaging on Bare Minerals products - it gets absolutely covered in makeup and whatever else.. I can't bear that when it comes to makeup products.. anybody else?!

I decided to give the MAC MSF a go as I've heard nothing but good things about it over the years. In all honesty, I don't find there to be much difference between MAC MSF and Bare Minerals Mineral Veil, although the MAC adds a hint of colour to my skin, whereas the BM powder is translucent, although I'm sure you can pick that up in different shades also.

Overall, MAC MSF has proven to be a great setting powder as it sits well under the eyes and also over both my Clinique Stay Matte foundation and Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue.. and the shiny packaging is also to my delight, haha.

What have your beauty favourites been in the month of August? Have you tried any of these products? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
