It was Autumn of 2013 that tartan became a massive staple in my wardrobe, as it seemed to become super popular on the fashion front with so many high street retailers making it a huge focus in their stores and online. Being my picky self when it comes to patterns (as well as everything else in life), I spent pretty much this whole year trying to find a tartan shirt that wasn't too long, wasn't too 'manly looking' and didn't look like a pyjama top. Definitely easier said than done!
What I loved about this shirt from Topshop is that it is slightly cropped which I feel makes it more flattering on my figure rather than the oversized tartan shirts that some girls manage to pull off perfectly, but those just don't do anything for my shape.
For a more girly look, I rolled up the sleeves and added a statement necklace from my ever-growing collection. I rarely wear a button-down shirt without a necklace!
High-waisted jeans are a saviour in Autumn when you want to wear a cropped top/shirt but don't want to show your tummy, as your natural tan will have probably disappeared by now *sad face* - my pale Irish skin in the winter and cropped tops just don't mix.
I'm wearing the Topshop Joni Jeans in the 'Winter Bleach' shade. I literally must have eight pairs of the Joni's by now, they have become an absolute staple for me and I find them so easy to throw on and pair with pretty much any top on days I don't feel like dressing up. They hold their shape so well and unlike most other jeans that I've tried, no matter how many times you wash them, the colour does not fade! Although, I would recommend going a size down even if it feels a bit tight, as they do tend to stretch just a little bit.
Last of all, I just love these shoes. I remember seeing them in Topshop over the summer but thinking maybe they'd be hard to pull off and possibly look a bit strange. Maybe they do, but I really don't care.. I love them. I think they are so fun and different from what you usually see people wearing! I rolled up the jeans slightly as I thought the shoes looked better with a bit of ankle showing. Outfit complete - I love it.
I'd love to hear what you think of this outfit! Love or hate the shoes?
Have you found any amazing pieces at Topshop this year?
