Yearly favourites are up there with my favourite posts to read/videos to watch. I'm always so intrigued to hear about products that somebody has been loving for not just one month, but a whole entire year, which goes to show how well the products work in the long-term. Although for most areas of make-up and skincare I've pretty much found products that work perfectly for me, there's always room for better discoveries.. not to mention when Look Fantastic sends you new offers via email on a frequency that is not so good for my bank balance. But who can resist?
The first 3 products that are 100% worthy of a mention go together perfectly -
MAC Prep+Prime Skin Base
,
MAC Studio Waterweight foundation
and
MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural
-I have linked my in-depth reviews on these products. The foundation makes for a light, but buildable coverage and manages to even out my skin tone perfectly with just the right amount of dewiness. I add a bit of matte using the MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural in 'Medium' while the primer helps to keep the foundation exactly where I put it for the majority of the day, bearing in mind that my skin is combination/oily so any foundation that lasts this long is an absolute dream.
No7 Self Tan was a product that I bought on a complete whim in Boots last summer. No7 described the product as having no scent, which is an immediate selling point for me.. I personally can't handle the after-scent of most fake tans or tinted moisturisers. This product has a very subtle guide colour to help you apply an even layer and leaves a natural golden colour.
This Soap and Glory body butter is incredible for softening and moisturising my skin, or for elbows and hands before applying tan. The scent is described as pistachio, almond and sweet vanilla - a candle with this fragrance would be an amazing addition to the line. This is definitely an all-time favourite of mine.
Make-up brushes aren't really my specialty.. I typically use the same brushes day in, day out and as far as face brushes go, I don't find a major difference between the likes of the cheaper Real Techniques brushes and higher end options from MAC etc. That being said, the MAC 263 Winged Liner Brush converted my amateur winged liner for the better. I use this brush with the Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in 'Black Ink' and both work perfectly to create a sharp flick. I've always used liquid liners or pen liners in the past, so switching to a brush application took a bit of practice, but I can't see myself straying from the 263 any time soon!
I purchased this NARS gloss in 'Dolce Vita' at the beginning of 2015 and I've been wearing it in place of many lipsticks since. Although it's a lipgloss, the pigmentation is intense and can be used on it's own without liner or lipstick to enhance the colour although I often fill in my lips with MAC 'Soar' liner and add this gloss on top to make sure the colour doesn't slide. MAC 'Soar' is the closest match I can find to this product.. it's basically a gloss version of 'Soar' so if you're a fan, definitely try this gloss!
Last but not least, the
Emma Hardie cleansing balm
is definitely one of my top 3 discoveries of 2015! I'd heard a lot of amazing reviews of this cleanser, and I was definitely not disappointed when I finally tried it out. Although it is pricier than a lot of other brands, I feel that you really get what you pay for with this. Everything from the scent to the texture and how easily it glides across your face gives this cleanser a super luxurious feel. It's definitely a must if you love a good pamper! Here's my full review of the Emma Hardie cleanser.
I'd love to hear some of your favourite products from 2015 in the comments below! Have you tried any of the products I've mentioned? Are there any products I need to try in 2016?
