Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream Review

To be honest, I've never tried any  Smashbox products before now. I'd heard a lot of amazing reviews about their make-up in general, so I was super excited to be contacted by Smashbox asking if I'd like to receive some of their products to try.. including the  Camera Ready BB Cream

Trying to decide which shade would be best for me (considering I didn't get a chance to see this product in real life) was harder than expected. I played it safe and went for the shade 'light' as I thought I could always bronze up my face if it was lighter than what I'd normally go for. Safe to say, although this shade is 'light', it's definitely as dark a shade as I would go. In fact, if I was to re-purchase I'd probably go one shade lighter.

As a BB Cream, I was expecting this product to be quite light and airy in consistency (I was expecting a similar product to the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue, if any of you have tried it), but it was actually quite the opposite. This BB Cream feels considerably thicker and heavier than my usual foundations/face products when applying, however when buffed out with a buffing brush and set with powder, the overall finish looks and feels great

Although I've said this product feels quite thick when you first apply, the coverage is definitely not 'full'.. I'd say it's more of a medium-ish coverage, however you can apply foundation on top for a fuller coverage. I've noticed that if I'm wearing this BB Cream for more than 8 hours, it does tend to 'cake' under my eyes and other areas of my face, which is my only negative with this product. Smashbox also say that this product helps to control oil, which I definitely agree with.

I find this BB Cream works brilliantly for those 9-5 days when you can go home in the evening and don't have to worry about your make-up for the rest of the day. But if like me, you're a bit non-stop most days and usually have your make-up on for 9+ hours, this product mightn't be the best. For this reason, I'd say this BB Cream is best for evening time or on 'short days'. Also, considering the name 'Camera Ready BB Cream', I should mention that this product does photograph very well.

Overall, I am quite impressed with this product for evening wear and for how well it photographs.. it would be great for a night out. Having said that, I do tend to swap this for another product on days I know I'll be wearing make-up for more than 8 or 9 hours. I've linked this product in the images below along with the Smashbox CC Cream that I'd love to try also. You can purchase both the BB Cream (RRP: £27) and the CC Cream (RRP: £29)  from Boots.

Thanks for reading xx
