Spring Nail Edit

Follow

Spring pastels and lighter shades are definitely one of the things I most look forward to when Spring comes around. It's the time of year that I always give my nail polish collection a clear-out, and it's usually a 'one out - new one in' type of thing. So I decided to put together this post to show you which polishes I'm loving recently, the ones I've worn so far and the shades I can't wait to get on my nails in the weeks to come.

Easter Sunday OOTD

Follow

I know everybody says the same thing, but I really cannot believe just how fast this year is flying by. It's Easter and almost April already, yet January seems like it was just last week. With Spring finally arriving (minus the warm weather), I've definitely been trying to add brighter colours to my wardrobe as I've mentioned before so I thought I'd share this little dress with you all. It's from a brand called Voulez-Vous and I actually picked it up for £10 in a closing-down sale in town (definitely regretting not buying the navy shade too!). It's quite an oversized shirt dress (hence the belt) with a concealed button-down front and bow-tie which is very 'on-trend' at the moment. The raspberry shade is perfect for Spring and looks fab when paired with a nude lip (I'm wearing MAC 'Hug Me' and Bare Minerals 'Revved' lip liner).
I'm always on the lookout for versatile fashion pieces that can be worn in multiple ways. These pieces are usually the plain and simple kind, meaning that you can do the 'one dress - three ways' thing and nobody will notice you've worn it before. This dress is one of those pieces as it also looks amazing when worn as an unbuttoned long shirt and paired with a cami underneath and jeans for a more casual look. So if you've picked up any really versatile pieces recently, definitely leave me a link to let me know!

'In The Style' Shirt Dress

Follow

My 'In The Style' wishlist has been growing very quickly these past few months as I'm forever admiring the outfits of so many girls on Instagram who often feature this brand. It seems to be everywhere at the moment and it's really no wonder - there's so many stunning pieces to choose from and everything is priced very reasonably, so it was definitely time I made my first of many more orders to come.

One of the pieces I picked up was this Taura Grey Wine Paisley Shirt Dress (£24.99) below, which  can be worn in multiple ways. It's definitely a bit shorter than I prefer, especially due to the splits up the side, although I managed to pull it down quite a bit so I could wear it as a dress. With that being said, I loved the look when paired with tights and knee high boots - perfect for a night out when it's one of those awkward 'dressy but not too dressy' dress codes, or even to the cinema.

Since it arrived, I've worn it casually plenty of times and it's equally as nice when paired with jeans and boots! In the second photo, I paired it with my favourite blue denim Topshop Joni Jeans and burgundy boots which tied in perfectly with the colours of the shirt dress. It would also be lovely paired with white jeans and sandals when the weather picks up, or you could even leave it open and pair it with a cami underneath for a different look. I just love how versatile this piece is.. there are endless options.

For size reference, I ordered a size 8 and it fits fine although it is definitely not a neat fit. If I ordered again, I'd probably go for a size 6 if available, so definitely order your true size or even one size down in these shirt dresses if you can.

Please let me know your opinions on these looks and if there are any other pieces on In The Style that you've been loving recently! Thanks so much for reading xox

Amazing Shoe Finds

Follow

So last Friday when I attended Belfast Fashion Week, it didn't take me long to hit the shops to see what Spring styles they had to offer. For once, I actually pick up a shed load of new clothes that I don't actually need (pat on the back to me), although two new pairs of shoes very easily made their way off the shelves and into my life.

I picked up this first pair of pink/mauve lace ups from Topshop for £36 and I'm absolutely loving them (also available in black). I'd bought a pair of Topshop shoes last year that were the same shape, although they were brown suede with fringe detail on the front. I'd gotten so much wear out of them and loved the look, so this pair was a safe bet! The subtle pink/mauve shade is just perfect for Spring and the gold detailing really stands out against the soft hue. I'm very much looking forward to *hopefully* the warmer weather, although I'll definitely not hold my breath for that. The joys of Irish weather. *cries*

'Mustard Chic' and Tips

Follow

Every so often, I get absolutely obsessed with certain tones and colours. For a while it was burgundy, then khaki green and now I can't seem to get enough mustard pieces in my wardrobe. It's a colour that I never thought I'd wear or could ever pull off when it started becoming 'trendy' again and although I do sometimes find it hard to match, I'd always say creams or greys work best to 'tone it down' a little. In my opinion, I'd avoid anything camel or warm toned as it can be a bit  too warm , although colour-blocking with mustard and burgundy for example can look amazing too. I'm definitely going to give colour-blocking a go this Spring/Summer!

Combination/Oily Skincare Favourites

Throughout the past month or two, I began to notice a difference in the appearance and feeling of my skin that I wasn't too happy about. Admittedly, lots of late nights, study-related stress and a few too many chocolate sweets over Christmas definitely didn't help. So a few weeks ago I did an online order, had a trip to the Clinique counter and re-discovered the La Roche-Posay Serozinc, and my skin has definitely improved since. I may begin this post by saying that my skin type is combination-oily with a few dehydrated patches and I can be prone to breakouts. So if your skin sounds similar to mine, hopefully these products will work as well for you as they did for me.

Lusting Over Leopard

Leopard always has and probably always will be one of my all-time favourite pattern. I'd definitely never dress head to toe in the print, but adding a hint of leopard to my outfit is something I've been loving recently. I spied the two leopard tops at Topshop and since I'm trying to add more bold prints to my wardrobe this year, these were the perfect additions. Bold printed tops make amazing layering pieces when paired with a leather jacket on top, or with a denim skirt.. but I'd definitely say keep the rest of your outfit plain when the main piece of your outfit (top, dress or jacket) is (a) heavily printed or (b) has strong colours in the print. Neutrals (even if they're patterned) tend to work well with bold prints, just as long as the two don't clash. I recently paired a navy/cream stripe top with my leopard scarf and I loved the look, but I definitely think the neutral stripes are what made mixing the two patterns more wearable. Bold printed accessories are also some of my favourites right now - I love adding a leopard scarf to a very simple outfit to add a statement look.
I'll link all outfit details below along with a few other favourites...

New Beauty Buys

Kukui oil shampoo - I've been looking for new hair products recently as the shampoo I'd been using (a cheap Elvive one) just wasn't leaving my hair feeling as clean as it could. It was the name 'kukui oil' that caught my attention straight away with this product - I'd imagined it would be similar to coconut oil, and it actually does have a slightly coconut-y scent. Also, any hair product that claims to defrizz is mandatory for me, especially now coming into the spring/summer! I've just used this product once so far but my hair does feel quite a bit fresher after using this as opposed to the Elvive shampoo. I can't wait to see how my hair reacts to this in the long term.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer 'Classic Beige' - This is a long-standing favourite for me. I use this concealer both on my face if I need to cover up any areas and also to brighten under my eyes once I've finished my make-up. I use the shade 'Classic Beige' and I've definitely gone through at least 5 tubes of this, hence why I purchased another two - it's definitely a safe bet.

Colab Dry Shampoo - This is a product I'd seen so much all over the Internet since Ruth Crilly released it. I'm especially excited to try this out as I've been an avid user of the Batiste dry shampoo for years now - but I can't help but hate how it leaves my hair feeling afterwards. So many people have claimed that the Colab dry shampoo is invisible and feels super lightweight so I'm very much looking forward to giving it a go myself.

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess 'Medium' - I've been on the look-out for a new all-over face bronzer for a while now as I hit pan on my all-time favourite Bare Minerals 'The High Dive' bronzer, and with Bronze Goddess being a favourite amongst so many bloggers and youtube gurus that I've followed for years, it was definitely time I tried it out. I've worn this quite a few times now and I'm loving the finish of this. It blends super well and sits perfectly on top of my foundation. What I really love is that it can be used as a super subtle bronzer on chilled days, but I can really build it up for a deeper bronzed look and use it for contouring too.

Bondi Sands Dark Foam - If it wasn't for Instagram, I don't think I would have ever heard of this tan. It's an Australian brand and I think they're most well known for their famous 'Liquid Gold' tan. Unfortunately it was unavailable on FeelUnique (before I realised it was available at my local Boots) so I went for the tanning foam instead. I'm forever on the look-out for a tan that is still noticeable after 2 showers and I've heard amazing reviews of this brand so mayyyybe this will be the one. The 'coconut scent' description also massively sucked me in.. anything to get away from the usual biscuit scent! I'll do an in-depth review once I've tried and tested it!

I'd love to know if you've tried any of these products before and what you thought of them! Please leave any other suggestions below. You can subscribe on Bloglovin' to keep updated with my posts xx

How To Wear 'Double Denim'

If you've been reading my blog or following my Instagram for some time, you'll know that I'm not usually the type to stick with one solid colour in my outfits. I really like to mix prints with plain pieces, statement jewellery with button up shirts and neutral shades with a pop of  colour in my lipstick or accessories. If anything, I definitely don't usually dress totally in the one colour. Recently, though, you will have seen in my Shades of Grey post that I've been trying out the 'all one colour' outfits and I actually received some really nice feedback.

I definitely would have never thought I'd be doing the double denim look as I cringe so much looking back at that famous photo of JT and Britney.. that's definitely not the look I was going for. (LOL)
Although it's a style that a lot of people would tend to stay away from, I think double denim is definitely wearable when you play around with different materials and shades as opposed to sticking with the exact same colour, top and bottom.. switch it up for sure! I paired my favourite pair of Topshop Ripped Joni Jeans in quite a dark denim that I purchased a year or two ago, with a very old lightweight cotton button up shirt (I'm pretty sure this was bought in France one year), rolled up the sleeves and tucked it in to my high waisted skinnies to make it look a bit more modern and 'chic'.

For a more wearable look, I couldn't resist adding a bright pink lip shade (MAC 'Cherry' lip liner) to 'brighten up' the outfit along with a long necklace with an oval turquoise stone for an added bit of colour, yet still keeping things neutral with a pair of fringed beige booties - very similar pair on Missguided on sale for £14! I've linked these products and similar pieces below to re-create this look.
